Dan Chiras and Dave Wann

At first I felt skeptical that a suburban neighborhood could transform into co-housing having grown up in a small town with a suburban character. But then I read Dan Chiras and Dave Wann's Superbia! in which the co-authors give both fictional and real-life scenarios of suburban neighborhoods that made the transition into either co-housing or sustainable communities.
And then I was reminded of some of the small towns in Washington State who through zoning laws have kept the small town character with narrow streets, local businesses (no big box stores), common public areas for gathering, and in the case of La Conner, free wi-fi (or at least there was in 2009).
